Christmas cards

I made only a few Xmas cards this year.
I decided to use the Yonder Star background from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I coloured the background with distress inks.
The main image was a free stamp that came with the December issue of Craft Stamper magazine (UK magazine).
The ribbon is from Papertrey.

Simon Says ... Make Your Own Background

It is time for a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp, the challenge is to make your own background. I really love making my own backgrounds and I rarely use patterned paper.

I love Asian designs. For this card, I used Darkroom Stamps (geisha) and Waltzingmouse stamps (lanterns and bridge). I coloured the geisha with Distress Markers.

For the background, I misted some Luminarte Primary Elements diluted with water and gum arabic (binder) on a piece of heavy watercolour paper. Then, I used a Tim Holtz's stencil and I painted the rays with gold acrylic paint.

Since I wanted to create some texture and dimension, I took Golden bead gel, I aligned the stencil on the cardstock where I had painted the golden rays, I used a palette knife and I layered some bead gel.

I let the bead gel dry overnight.
Then, I applied the images with foam tape to give even more dimension to the card. All the images are heat embossed.

Challenge: with a flourish

The new challenge at Simon Says Stamps - Monday Challenge is to create something with a Flourish.

I made a card with Paint fusion stamps from Sheena Douglass /Crafter's Companion stamps.
I used Pebeo matte acrylic paint, I stamped a flourish with versamark ink, then I embossed it with gold embossing powder.
In the U.S. these stamps are distributed by Crafter's Companion and they are also available from the Simon Says Stamp store. You can find video tutorials on the Sheena Douglass youtube channel.

Vintage butterflies - art journal

I played with my Distress Markers and I stamped some butterflies.

I wanted to create the look of an old nature book. I used a lot of distress inks for the background, I stamped it with a text/newspaper stamp from Papertrey and I added some butterflies with my handmade washi tape.

I added some mica flakes (Stampendous) with matte gel medium to add more texture.

Watercolour background with digi stamp

This is a card for the new Simom Says Stamp - Wednesday challenge.

I created the background by painting a light wash on watercolour paper. Then, I stamped a background stamp from Impression Obsession.

The circle frame is from Walzingmouse Stamps, the flower is a digi stamp from Hero Arts. I coloured the digi stamp with Copic markers.
